Phone/Letter/Phone: Sample Letter
Month Day, Year
Dear Frank and Ann,
It was great to connect with you on the phone tonight. Thanks for the time to chat a bit. [Brief reference—1 or 2 sentences—to phone conversation.]
As you could probably tell, we are so eager to begin our ministry with The Navigators at [location]. We hope our involvement in the lives of [college students] will be an investment in the lives of future leaders—an investment in eternal things that moth and rust will not touch.
As promised, I’ve enclosed materials that will fill out more of the 75-year story of The Navigators’ ministry. It all started with the vision and obedience of our founder, Dawson Trotman, and today the ministry has spread to over 107 countries! The [collegiate] ministry brochure describes more about our strategy and funding goals for the coming year for the coming year as we move into full-time ministry.
God is doing amazing things at [location] in reaching [college students] for Christ. [Tell a short, specific ministry story (“in progress” is OK). Example: John is a new believer who went with Ed, one of our future teammates, to Bible Study Fellowship. John is visiting his parents and friends right now. In his last email, John said things are “rough.” Please pray for him and his family and friends as well.]
Thank you again for your interest and for reviewing the enclosed brochures. We’re grateful that you’re willing to consider joining our team. Monthly gifts of $50–$100 will help sustain the ongoing work, and we’ll also need several annual or anchor gifts of $1,000 to $2,500 or more as well. Thank you for seeking the Lord’s will about this.
For the sake of the Gospel of Jesus,
P.S. I’ll give you a call in a week or so to see how the Lord has led you concerning becoming one of our ministry partners and to answer any questions you may have.
