What a deal – being invited to do something I love! This fall, I plan to work at [School] with a non-profit group called The Navigators. I’m writing to give you the chance to partner with me. No, you won’t have to move to [City, State of campus]. Working with a non-profit, I’m responsible for raising my own funds for the year ahead. I’ll need a team to join me financially before I can arrive on campus this August.
Let me start at the beginning. You’ll like this story. [Personalized Paragraphs - Insert one paragraph on how you grew in your faith in college and how The Navigators (or another ministry or church) reached you or discipled you. Remember this is going to folks who might not know Christ. You might want to include a bit of a testimony but don’t preach and don’t use unnecessary religious terms!]
Clearly, college is a unique time in a person’s life. Many students are on their own for the first time and are searching for satisfaction, acceptance, and purpose. Countless alternative philosophies, life-style choices, and a smorgasbord of values confront these students. My goal is to build relationships with these students and to invite those interested to investigate the teachings of Jesus from the New Testament. I’ve found the principles Jesus taught to be an excellent framework for ethics, interpersonal relationships, and success.
As I go to campus, I’ll be part of a Navigator team, EDGE Corps. We are all recent college graduates who have volunteered for 1-2 years. Having recently graduated, we know what it’s like to be a college student in this day and age. We know what students are thinking and what questions they’re asking. We know the pressures and decisions they face. College students represent a strategic segment of the population, and the college campus has become a vital center where future business, community, and government leaders are developed. We’ll be on the “cutting edge” of service, interacting daily with students, encouraging relationships of trust, sharing our own spiritual journeys, and helping foster character growth and leadership skills.
Here’s where you come in. All Navigator staff are financially supported entirely by families, churches, businesses and individuals like you. In order for me to be on campus full-time, investing in students, I need a team of faithful people who will join me by giving financially from $25-$200 per month. I also will need several anchor partners who will give $1,000 to $2,500 or more. Will you consider joining my monthly partnership team? I can’t begin work on campus in August unless I am 100% funded.
In addition to helping college students, I’ll also receive training in the areas of communication, organization, leadership, and teamwork. During my parents’ and grandparents’ generation, the Peace Corp helped many “twenty-somethings” grow and mature. I’m trusting the EDGE Corps experience will do the same for me as we seek to impact tomorrow’s leaders.
Your partner in service,
