Year-End Appeal Letter: Sample 1

Month Day, Year

Dear Ministry Partners,

Living and ministering in the heart of Detroit is incredible! God’s power and guidance meet me at every turn. He truly loves those in the inner city, and I want to continue showing His love to people here. To do that though, I need your help. But first, here are a few glimpses of what’s been happening:

-Marcus, a Hispanic brother in Christ, is eager to learn to disciple and mentor new believers. As I’ve been teaching him, he in turn teaches me about the Hispanic community and helps me revive my Spanish vocabulary.

-Last month, I took ten men from a nearby homeless shelter to a PromiseKeepers men’s retreat. For many of these men, this was the first time they had been face-to-face and heart-to-heart with Christian brothers from the suburbs. God is using me to build mentoring relationships between inner city and suburban men.

-I encourage believers to reach out to people in Detroit by leading a neighborhood Bible study for new believers and seekers.

-I am investing my life in grass roots people ministry. I meet one-on-one with Robert who, after two decades of substance abuse, yearns to know God—the only One who can give him the victory over his addiction. Likewise, what a joy it is to be a “big brother” to 12-year-old Donny who from time-to-time shows up on my doorstep eager to sit and read together the Bible I gave him.

I agree with a friend’s recent comment, “There is a tremendous amount of ministry to be done in this neighborhood.” But I would add, “There is no limit to what can be accomplished for Christ in my neighborhood!” And being a part of The Navigators provides an excellent platform for ministry here in Detroit. As I spent a week this summer in Estes Park, CO, with 1,350 other Navigator missionaries, we celebrated together our rich heritage and united our hearts around a common mission that will carry us into next year.

Thanks so much for your involvement with me in this work. Whether through prayer or financial gifts, I greatly appreciate your support. As this year draws to a close, I continue to build a long-term team of friends and churches that will support this work to which God has called me. My current financial need is $11,185, to end this year at full budget and launch me into another year of ministry.

Would you consider a special gift by December 31? In order to meet my financial goal, I’ll need gifts of $50, $100, $250, $500 and more. Gifts of $1,000 and $2,000 will make a difference, too. Your gift will make a major investment in the lives of people like Marcus, Robert and 12-year-old Donny.

Thanks again for everything! May you have a special holiday season as we celebrate together the abundant blessings God has given to each of us, most especially His Son Jesus Christ. I’ll keep you informed of what God is doing.

For His Glory and setting free the oppressed,
