One June early in my days with EDGE Corps, I was feeling like I’d never get funded. During these hard days, God brought to mind Psalm 50:10 (NIV):
“…for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.”
I clung to these words, but the Divine reminder felt empty to me…unfulfilled.
Then one morning, I woke up to five cows in our yard—no kidding—that didn’t belong to us. I didn’t realize it yet, but God was playing out a fun object lesson for me.
Later that day, after returning the cows to their owner, I checked the mail and found a letter from someone I’d never met saying he planned to support me at $200 a month. That evening, I made some call backs, and the first person I spoke with decided to give $100 a month, the second planned to give $250 quarterly, and the third committed to give a special gift of $2,500.
In one day, God brought in cash gifts and monthly commitments that, over the course of a year, totaled the same as the value of five cows!
Psalm 50:10 is now to me a promise fulfilled by a personal, generous, humorous God!
